Build a course, test it, then save
Log in to a registered Totaljerkface account, then open Level Editor from the main menu. Use the star-shaped Special Item tool to place building blocks, cannons and a finish line.
Press T to test your course, revise objects with the select tool, then choose Save Level from the editor menu. Registered users can upload their levels and make them public after saving.
Set up your account and place the course
- What account do I need to save and share?
- Create a Totaljerkface profile by clicking Register above the game window in the top-right corner of the page and completing the form. Check that you are logged in before building so your level can be saved and shared.
- How do I start a new course or load an existing one?
- Choose Level Editor from the main menu to start building from scratch. To use an existing level as your starting point, open the editor menu in the top-left corner and load it.
- How do I place objects and a finish line?
- Select the star-shaped Special Item tool in the left pane. Use the pane that opens to place building blocks for your course, add objects such as cannons, and place a finish line.
Test, revise and publish your level
- How do I test jumps and platform placement?
- Press T to test the level. During the test, press F to mark your character's position in the editor. Use that mark to see how far the character can jump or be thrown and position the next platform.
- How do I change objects after a test?
- Choose the cursor-shaped select tool and select a placed object. You can move, resize or rotate it and change its parameters. On some objects, unchecking interactive makes the object part of the background instead of something you collide with or drive over. Hover over an unfamiliar option to see its explanation.
- How do I save and make the level public?
- After testing, choose Save Level to upload the course using your registered account. The save menu lets you choose a name and add comments. After saving, you can make the level public so players can find it through browse user levels. If you try saving before testing, a message asks you to test first.
- Can I overwrite a public level or keep a backup?
- Once a level is public, it cannot be overwritten. Save an edited public level as a new level. You can also save level data in XML text form; keep an XML copy as a backup against losing your level data.
