Use Options to lighten the blood effect
In the browser game, open Options from the main menu and set Blood Setting to 1 to restore the older, cartoony blood effect if the newer effects slow the game down. Set Maximum Particles to 0 if you want to remove blood entirely.
The blood setting ranges from 1 to 4. Setting 1 gives the cartoony style; setting 4 adds a more realistic effect with a higher performance cost. The Maximum Particles slider sits above the blood control.
Compare appearance and processor demands
The three newer blood effects increase processor demand in this order: particles drawn as lines, a liquid effect, then a liquid effect with bevel and blend mode. Choosing a simpler effect reduces the demands of those blood effects.
| Blood appearance | Effect and processor tradeoff |
|---|---|
| Setting 1: older, cartoony blood | Restores the old blood type when the newer appearance or slowdown is unwanted. |
| Particles drawn as lines | Blood particles drawn as lines place less demand on your computer's processor than either newer liquid effect. |
| Liquid blood effect | Uses more processor resources than line-drawn particles. |
| Liquid blood with bevel and blend mode | The most processor-intensive of the three newer effects. |
| Setting 2: rounded line endings | The line endings match the appearance of the Flash version. |
Compare the look and return to the old style
- Open Options from the main menu to access the blood setting and Maximum Particles slider.
- Compare the blood appearances using the settings from 1 through 4. Setting 1 gives the older cartoony look, while setting 2 uses rounded line endings matching Flash.
- If a newer effect causes slowdown or you prefer the previous appearance, return to Options and set Blood Setting to 1.
- To remove blood instead of changing its appearance, set Maximum Particles to 0.
